Because if they do not know there is a reply-to unexpected results can
happen. Considering you just said you want it to work as expected every time,

TB! doesn't strip it. It is the only space it does not strip.

Some programs (*COUGH*TB!*COUGH*PMMAIL*COUGH*a few others*COUGH) force it
to be set. I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader as to what that means.
