Do you have particular reasons to invoke mail dispatcher each
time TB collects mail? I wonder what purpose it serves to do
that.

My suggestion would be for you to turn off the "invoke
automatically at each mail check" option for mail dispatcher.
When people invoke mail dispatcher manually to manage mail on
the server, using space bar to toggle is really convenient,
while having to combine with Shift or Ctrl is not.
