more new user questions

I've been playing around with the Bat a bit more.
Can you change the way the date received/created
looks. I'd like something shorter like 9/18/00 and then
the time, instead of the much longer 18 Sep 2000,...
that seems to be the default.

Also, I assume you can't read newsgroups with the Bat.
Any recommendations what to use instead?
