consistency consistency consistency. example: in the main screen,
select a folder that has new mail in it. Alt-click on one of the new
messages so that all that's listed is the new mail. double click on a
message to open it in the View Message pane. Make sure "message list"
is turned on. Now look at all that read mail in the message list! the
new-mail-only view from the main window didn't carry over! In fact, it
seems to me that the message list in the View Message pane is always
reset to view-all-messages?
All right, no big deal, so maybe I have to set the view every time I
change screens. But then go back to the main screen. Head over to
another folder. Where's all the mail? Oh -- the new-mail-only view
carried over and there's no new mail in this folder.
Views need to be consistently sticky, or not sticky at all. To my
mind it's more logical to have a view stick to a folder, than to have
a view stick to a screen (i.e., main screen, view message screen,
etc.).
