this is from a post by Marck Pearlstone in the TBOT (TB off-topic) mailing
list, subject is 'Computer Migration' :

Open up a command prompt window. You will see that you are in a
folder. Possible C:\ (the root of the C: drive).
Enter the following two commands:
regedit /e thebatcu.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!"
regedit /e thebatlm.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\RIT"
You will now have two files in the current directory: thebatcu.reg and
thebatlm.reg. Copy these to a floppy or across the network or down the
link wire or onto a zip drive or .... darn, I don't know what you're
using there ... just get them to the new machine.
On the new machine, use Explorer to locate these two files and, when
you've found them, double click each in turn. That will load the
information from the .reg files into the registry on the new computer.

i did move TB using a ZIP and the registry-trick and it works like a charm.
only had to edit the .reg files because i put TB in a different directory
than where it used to be on the old machine.
