I hope I understand you right.
Have you tried to click on the column "Created" (or "Received",
whatever you find more interesting) until a small triangle pointing
downward is shown? This way the most recent posts would be at the top.
A second conjecture: If you want to build up an archive for reference
purposes (or whatever), just export the messages once a week into a
text file that you store somewhere else.
