I've almost got everything down pat, and am ALMOST ready to buy.
The biggest problem remaining is in reading many emails at a time,
especiall when reading through lists, where I've used filters to move
the posts into a folder where they're already sorted into threads...
The major problem I've got is in moving through posts. The method
I've used in the past has been to click on the "next message" button
in Netscape (4.72) which is what I've used in the past to read lists.
The "next message" button automatically goes to the next message
whether it's in the thread or a subthread, or in a new thread
entirely.
I've NOT been able to duplicate this behavior in The Bat! and I hope
you can help me come up with something at least similarly easy.
I've already been told about (thank you, those who wrote me) using the
space bar to go through messages, and using the arrow keys.
But I find the space bar, while extremely convenient (it pages through
messages over one screen in length) will always skip down to the next
message at the same indent level, not going into subthreads.
I've also tried using the arrow keys, but the problem is similar,
though at least I CAN navigate into the sub-threads. I use the
down-arrow key to go down on the same level, or the right-arrow key to
go into a sub-thread.
The problem is I've found no one key that will just keep reading next
messages in what I've learned to be an intuitive fashion. So I have
to watch when I scroll, and that slows me down quite a bit. Since I
read over 400 emails each day (not even including this list <smile>),
I do find it a problem.
Is there a way to do what I want to do? If not, how have YOU (those
of you who read hundreds of messages a day) manage your reading of
threaded lists?
Thank you for any and all input; I do appreciate it, and it helps me
make my final decision. Though I'm depending more and more on Linux,
and intend to start using it on the desktop, I'm sure I'll be using
Windows for reading my mail for some time in the future, and I'd like
to make use of The Bat! if I can resolve this last issue.
