Seems you're right. I tested it on some dummy attachments.
The reason I was asking is that I once re-sent a mail and deleted some
attachments before I actually sent it because the recipient mail server
couldn't handle the amount of data. With that the files were deleted from
their _original_ directory as well though. A bug IMNSHO.
