I tend to agree with you there.

I think it would be better that if double clicking on the folder did
anything it should really open the folder's view folder window for
browsing the folder in a separate window.

At the moment, if you wish to browse a folder, you have to either
right click on the folder and then choose 'browse folder', or double
click on a message in the folders message list.

If TB! has the ability to show the folders contents in a separate
window, which it does, then intuitively, double-clicking the folder
should bring up the window.
