If it is significant, it belongs up with the message. The message which elicited my post said, and this is the whole message, > Thx. This message is either in code, or requires context to make sense. There is no way to know what the point of the message is without the context. If the context wasn't important for one to want to read, I don't see how the message could have been important enough to post. > In newsgroups, posting one's follow-up above the quoted material is > considered extremely bad form, for reasons which escape me but which > are clearly part of the Usenet culture. I'm not much of a newsgroup person, but when I do post, I post my comments close enough to the quoted text that one wouldn't have to search to make a connection between my remarks and what I was responding to, maybe being that helpful is bad form. Fortunately, this isn't a newsgroup, > As I said, I'm not really sure of your point. If it was to complain > about my delimiter screwing up the quotation below it, I'll consider > removing it. I guess I wasn't very clear, but my point was that signatures belong at the end of messages, not in the middle, or in the case of the particular message, after about 1 1/2 percent of the message. And mail is lots easier to deal with when a little context appears along with the response, and the rest of the message doesn't reappear at all. -- Dwight A.
