The problem is that most users will get more advanced as time goes by, your newly created list will be as techie as TBUDL is. It might be possible to tell the more advanced users to move to TBUDL, but I think that would demand pretty heavy moderation which will put the nice and welcoming attitude at risk. Besides, this will divide the user base of TB! into two different lists, I think many readers won't bother reading both lists. That will result in the common knowledge of TBUDL being divided by two, if you understand what I mean.
