Consider redirected mailboxes etc. Depending of the way the
encountered MTA's function the receipt confirmations can get sent
multiple times.

Apart from that, confirmation of receipt by an mta is also
confirmation that the used e-mail address is valid. So down the drain
with the option of not responding to spam in order not to validate the
address.

Everything that validates my address without that validation being
initiated by me is a privacy issue.
