It does, but after I select a key and/or type my pass phrase, nothing
else happens.  The message is not encrypted, and it is not sent.

After reading some other messages, I tried experimenting further.  Sure
enough, as with other people, the problem only occurs for me when I
encrypt, not when I sign.  That is, encrypt doesn't work, and
encrypt+sign doesn't work, but signing alone works fine.

Hmm ... if I force PGP/MIME to "off" (instead of leaving it on "auto"),
everything seems to work!
