With advice from a message much earlier on here I created a new "Archive" account with a password so that it's not read by TB! unless you specifically open it. I then set the parameters for all my TB! folders to keep maximum of 3,000 messages in each folder (probably should be even less than that) and move all other messages to Account "archive". Bingo.
