I'm hoping to learn at review time (after the first of the year), if I am
actually doing what upper management expects me to do ;) I
started a management position in February and was essentially
expected to step in and do what my manager did. Thing is, when I
asked him what he did all day, he just said "Handle anything that
comes in my office." Hmmm...

Like Bill, I'm trying to come up to speed on personnel management
and project management. I was happy to learn this week that in
December there will be training for managers on conducting
performance reviews. I think that will be quite beneficial, since I've
never done anyone's but my own ;)

I have copies of several help authoring tools that I want to continue
becoming more familiar with.

In the next release of our software, we will support an XML output
format for our dataloggers, so I want to further my XML knowledge.

Our dataloggers support a proprietary packet-based communication
protocol, and, while I know more than many other folks around here
about it since I document the instructions for the OSes, there's still a
lot I need to learn.

I have a couple of books on software requirements I would like to
get through, as well as a book on "managing the testing process".

I would like to learn how to be more comfortable with public
speaking (if that's possible! :)

All this should keep me busy for a while!
