I LOVED doing proposals...it was my first technical writing contract
gig, did it for 18 months at Bell Communications Research. Didn't
touch anything under 5 mil and did one over 100 million dollars. With
16+ years of sales prior to technical writing, I was a natural.

Unfortunately, after Bellcore, I got into other writing and then when
I applied for proposal gigs, everyone I spoke to seems to think that
I was tainted for some reason and couldn't get considered, even when
I showed them my award certificates (I had the highest close rate of
the group), letters of recommendation, and samples. 

Oh, well..their loss.
