Think of the wiki as comparable to the other list's site, except that this one would be maintained by us and *we* would decide what's important to go on it. Another benefit is that information can be updated whenever someone feels they have something to contribute, and not when the owner has time.
Running general discussions on the wiki is not the best idea, but using it to provide a source of information relevant to technical communication is a good idea. What goes up there will be driven first by what *we* want to contribute or feel is important to share, and then by the questions that are asked by list members, especially newbies. Wiki's take time to develop and flesh out, but as communicators we should have the knowledge and talent to shape it into a truly useful site. I have contributed to Wikipedia in several topics. I might read an article and realize that I have one more nugget of information that will help expand on that topic, so I add it. I've also created a couple of new topics on the site that have been added to by other people. It's not something that has consumed a lot of my time -- maybe two or three hours total in several months. I wouldn't expect a TCP wiki to consume an extraordinary amount of anyone's time, unless that's what they truly wanted to do. -Carla - CONFIDENTIAL- This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential, and may also be legally privileged.
