If the graphics are pasted into FrameMaker directly, not referenced, then they are part of the FM file and should not be lost. I believe -- check with some more knowledgeable than I -- when you copy and paste via the Windows clipboard, Windows converts your graphic to WMF and then pastes into FrameMaker a WMF that FrameMaker stores internally as a FrameImage.
Graphic files imported by reference into FrameMaker are "linked" and will not be lost, Archive will move them. If you have imported a file using OLE, then it sounds like that "link" type is unsupported by archive and you need to handle it manually.
