We track our document projects by topics, i.e., 100 topics in the
outline, 57 completed, 43 to go to reach document completion
by planned deadline. If the deadline for a document moves up,
we present the product manager with the current topic list and
say something like, "43 topics to go, tell me which 10 you can
live without for this release to meet the new deadline."
