There's nothing to say that TWs can't do some outreach. Create a Lunch N 
Learn session on What A Technical Writer Does. Write an article for your 
company newsletter about what it is you do. It's also an opportunity to 
provide info on what the ideal process is for a TW. Hold a Managers' 
Briefing on how documentation contributes to product success.  Make a 
podcast that you can circulate in the company, and explain what you do. 
Refer key managers to articles or podcasts that explain our role. You 
may need to get a little creative and a little bold, but you can raise 
your profile in the company in good ways, if you want to.
