Having dual monitors is significant. At most places, I've managed to get
my employer to do that. Right now I have a sweet dual-20-inch LCD setup,
as does every other writer in the group.

I find, typically, that my PC needs to be stronger than a developer's
because Adobe and other software I use, and the size of the docs I work
on, and the RAM use by graphics and other software, and the sloppiness
of Adobe and other software in releasing resources, puts a heckuva
strain on things. However, I have often encountered the "sorry, only
developers get the best machines, you get their hand-me-downs" and I
have worked at places where management had the best machines, which
surely made Outlook and PowerPoint run quite nicely.

Right now? My hardware is sufficient. I wouldn't mind a second HDD, like
I have at home, for use as a Photoshop and Illustrator scratch disk.

Cheers,

Sean
