^WPM by touch typing is another tool in the old kit bag. It's not a bad tool to have.
Should you test for it at an interview? Maybe. Maybe it's part of the whole technical writer whom you are interviewing, along with his FrameMaker use, et al. So, if said tech writer admits to intermediate FrameMaker experience, should you administer a test to check, in addition to looking at source documents?
