Not at all. You never want to work in a vacuum, especially with regard
to communities. But by waiting for someone to give you something to do
you are only moving as fast as that person will allow. Be proactive
and actively take on work and get it done. Usually that gives others
the kick in the butt to do the same. Also, IMHO, the reason why we
have a lot of work to do in the STC is that people DID used to work in
a vacuum. Please do not take that approach. You won't make many
friends and allies in doing so. Be open about your work, solicit
feedback, work on the best idea and not only your own ideas, and drive
results.
