Do you know what the company goals are and are they documented where
all employees can see them? If not, that statement loses some oompff
(a technical term). Also, I can't see  why higher education would even
be relevant to a company's goals.

HR should have the info. It should be in your employee handbook. Ask
them for it. You don't need to go through your boss to request
employee-facing information from HR.

Regarding pay, it sounds like it's in your best interest to get a
higher degree, and it sounds like it's in your company's best interest
to retain those who wish to get higher degrees, as it gives them
incentive to stay with the company.

I'd be put off too. I probably would have indicated that as well. I'm
turning into Danny Glover... "I'm getting too old for this
[censored]..." ;-)
