In technology, I know many are introverted by choice, since they don't see much benefit in socialization. I've always preferred the definition of introvert that means "guided by internal principle" as opposed to "stays away from social situations." There's overlap, for sure, but also many cases of people who will socialize if they see the need but they rarely do.
