[tech-geeks] Smart Board Troubles

I have a Smart Board, an SB580 that has ceased to work. One day it worked, 
the next it did not. It hooks up to the pc with a USB serial cable, and the 
light on the board is red, indicating no communication. I installed the 
software on a different pc to try to eliminate the possibility of something 
wrong on the computer, and as soon as I hook up the board the add hardware 
wizard come up looking for a driver for the USB serial cable. I would have 
thought the driver would have been installed when the Smart Board software 
was installed, but evidently not. Have any of you ran into this, and if so 
what did it take to fix it? I have contacted their tech support but have not 
heard back from them as of yet. Their web site has not been much help, 
either.
It looks to me that either the USB serial cable or the serial card inside 
the smart board has malfunctioned. Or perhaps the lack of a driver is the 
problem. If any of you have any thoughts here I would greatly appreciate 
them. Thanks in advance....
