In order to configure it properly, you need to change the default snapshot scheme. Otherwise, it creates a snapshot each time you boot the machine and at various times during the day. Obviously having multiple images on your boot drive is going to fill up your drive space very quickly and it isn't something you'd really want to happen.
I personally have mine configured to take snapshots only when I decide to have them taken. I have disciplined myself to take snapshots before I install anything, or after I remove something and find that the system is still functional. That means I only have a single backup if you like. You may ask what about those files that I accidentally delete. Good question. But in my case, anything which is of vital importance is copied into numerous places, not all of which are local, I use CrashPlan as well which gives me off-site backup. CrashPlan works on Windows and Mac and, although I haven't yet tried the Windows version, I will do so. That would give me backups on offsite secure servers globally so that my files are safe.
