Actually I read the whole intire thread and I asumed you could boot off of a usb drive in all operating systems. This method is counter intuative as if something happens to your internal or you drop your computer down the stairs you are toast. A block by block back up is good but if you only have a 120 gig hard drive in said laptop or desk top that is not much space to work with as your first image might be 100 gigs in theory depending on your OS config.
I"m used to running IS's off of external drives so naturally asumed that that's the way role back worked. It seems like a good peace fo kit to have around though.
