Hi David

I will do some testing shortly under Window-Eyes and let you know. But your
methods of listing, and of headers, are going to make my life easier.

Hi Gordon

Did you get my previous tip about using asterix in lieu of a bullet on the
first line of a list to force Word to insert actual bullets? I never use
ribbons or even menus to insert bullets in Word.

In general I agree with you that the ribbon interface is extremely nasty for
us and I am eternally grateful that apple show no sign yet of abandoning a
menu interface.
There is a virtual menu feature in jaws which is supposed to rectify some
of the problems encountered with ribbons. This is an option to turn on in
the start up wizard. I do not know if a similar feature exists in Window
eyes.

Hi Mary

OK, to be honest, I would be interested to know how you navigate those
ribbons at all. I still find them very confusing and I'm really not looking
forward to Windows 8 which, I am told, uses them in its base interface.

Hi Gordon,

JAWS does announce the different bullet types that Word uses. Unfortunately,
I cannot find a shortcut key to easily get to the bullets button. There is
none announced by JAWS anyway. The option is in the Home ribbon. You can
choose from filled round, hollow round, cross, diamond, filled square, and
none (I might be missing one).

Whe reading the bullets in a document, JAWS announces most of the bullets
correctly except for the hollow round bullet. That is read as an o.
