The guy called this morning and wanted to know if I could fix it there for sure. I told him no guarantees and it might have to come back to the shop. So he asked if I came all the way out there and it still had to come in, would I still charge him a service call. duhhhhhhh. After I said yes, he said he would be in with it about noon. I opened it up and pulled the mb, etc, loose and checked the diode and resistor and they were ok. Hooked it all back up so "EYE" could see what it was doing. The SOB plays fine! The screen voltage was cranked up too high and causing a little retrace, but can see nothing wrong besides that. I'm going to redo those cheap looking pins that Wayne mentioned and let it play all night.

Also check the connections. They are putting crappy pins on the wires and
then trying to solder the pin to a crummy eyelet. I cut the pins off, clean
the trace past the eyelet, and solder the wires properly.

Doug. It may have lost the + 200 volt line to the CRT drive board. I'd

take

a G2 rectifier and a 10 ohm resistor to replace R14701 off pin 6 of the
flyback.

MAYBE!

Had a guy call wants me to check his set tomorrow. He said screen is real bright, won't adjust, and has little lines through it. I assume he means retrace lines. It's a 36" and I hate to have to pull it in here. Any tips on this problem? I'd like to be able to just do it there and get paid and get out. Don't necessarily like going on a Sunday, but the wolves at the door remind me that I have to go.
