Well, if all else fails, I have a nicer tv for my living room. But yesterday when he called, there was just no way he could get it in here and could I come today. But when it was a possible tap in the pocketbook he was able to get it in here. I was here all morning getting ready, so whether he knows it or not he is still getting charged for a service call I waited until the last minute to not go on. It may sound dirty, but I had to pack up my tools and stuff, then unpack. Are people that afraid that we might make an extra buck somewhere??

As a rule...when I get that type of questioning on the phone, my antenna
goes up. Normally if you charged $XX you would get a raised eyebrow, and a
bad check.
I normally schedule these calls 3 or 4 days down the road, by that time,
hopefully they will have called someone else.

The guy called this morning and wanted to know if I could fix it there
for sure. I told him no guarantees and it might have to come back to the
shop. So he asked if I came all the way out there and it still had to
come in, would I still charge him a service call. duhhhhhhh. After I
said yes, he said he would be in with it about noon. I opened it up and
pulled the mb, etc, loose and checked the diode and resistor and they
were ok. Hooked it all back up so "EYE" could see what it was doing. The
SOB plays fine! The screen voltage was cranked up too high and causing a
little retrace, but can see nothing wrong besides that. I'm going to
redo those cheap looking pins that Wayne mentioned and let it play all
night.

Doug. It may have lost the + 200 volt line to the CRT drive board. I'd

take

a G2 rectifier and a 10 ohm resistor to replace R14701 off pin 6 of the
flyback.

MAYBE!

Had a guy call wants me to check his set tomorrow. He said screen is real bright, won't adjust, and has little lines through it. I assume he means retrace lines. It's a 36" and I hate to have to pull it in here. Any tips on this problem? I'd like to be able to just do it there and get paid and get out. Don't necessarily like going on a Sunday, but the wolves at the door remind me that I have to go.
