Having worked for a Very Large Telecom equipment provider I can tell you
that sadly the 'industry standard' is : "if it compiles ; ship it".
Honestly... we tested nothing other than ONLY known bugs that the build
was built to fix.... no regression testing, no feature testing, no
functionality testing. Did it Compile ? Great - kick it out the door.
The companies that actually run new builds on their OWN networks first,
are few and far between.
