Well, it seems that Erwin Achermann has mostly answered your questions.
The last release version is at:

ftp.tex.ac.uk/incoming/opustex/atwork/opus084 (.zip and .tgz)

And there is a later (incomplete, I believe or maybe just for Gregorian
Chant) version at:

ftp.tex.ac.uk/incoming/opustex/grego/opus093.tgz

I recall downloading a later version (I think it was 0.93) some time ago
and finding that it was *greatly* changed from before.

I was using OpusTeX because I prefer the fonts, particularly the time
signatures. Also, a typsetting project I was working on was not very
easily done with PMX (PMX does not output compatible OpusTeX code). There
would have been so much in-line TeX that it would have looked like a .tex
file anyway. I wanted to use the PostScript slurs/ties as well. Regarding
these Erwin Achermann said:

Perhaps they were not as good as real engraving, but I also thought they
were better than the .pk versions.

The input for OpusTeX is a bit streamlined compared to MusiXTeX but mostly
looks about the same. Most (all?) macros were re-named but still had very
similar names.

Cheers,
