Hi Hartmut!

To make a long story short: I recommand to recompile all packages
for your system (especially SuSE) which are not designed for your
special SuSE system (the current 7.2/7.3 releases might be better
in this regard, but there are still incompatibilities between
binaries).

I suppose that the C library version musixtex/pmx was compiled with is
not compatible with your version, probably a newer version.

This happened to me, when the format file of tex is missing. I had
such things years ago, I just remember that (maybe) this is a problem
with the format file. But I don't know any more what todo. I suppose
that the musixtex.fmt file coming musixtex is installed in the wrong
directory. The reason(s): Since some Linux versions, all data files have
to be installed in /usr/share and I think with one tex version there
were changes in the directory structure as well, but I think SuSe 6.2
contains already a recend version concerning the last change.

Best regards,

Reinhard Katzmann
