many thanks for the suggestion to use your program. I also found a lot of
samples. After some problems I am now able to typeset a simple piece. But I
want to learn more.
I tried the barsant.pmx sample and was tempted to give up. I am not a tex
specilist and don't understand
! I can't find file `musixps.tex'.

It looks like that the sample references a file that is not in the MiKTex
installation.
But this was not enugh to daunt me, and I started to code a simple piece for
the harp. While reading your documentation as well as the the notdr.pdf I
managed to get a well looking sheet of music and a MIDI file:

Some questions:
The pmx.tex should be installed in the texinput directory. I don't have a
directory with that name. The file musixtex.tex is in
C:\localtexmf\tex\generic\musixtex. Copying the file pmx.tex in this
directory doesn't work. When I copy pmx.tex to the working directory I
succeed. But how can I avoid to splatter up my directories with copies of
pmx.tex?
Is there an simple way to add numbers as finger instructions to several
notes?
