As someone that has to sell the ridiculous attachments and such for my job
the one thing I will add is that there are people out there that don't want
to mess with anything involving updates or recovery discs or anything else
and will gladly pay the $30.  We have a variety of services at Office Depot
that could very easily be done by even the most technically challenged and
people will still pay for to do so because they either think they can't do
it or don't want to be bothered.
