Yeah, the black & white collections and the color trade paperbacks/ hardcovers are completely different things, as Luke explained.
I'm glad the "Essentials" exist, for people that want them. But I honestly cannot stand to read them. They just give me a headache. If a story was originally in B&W, such as a "Savage Sword of Conan" story, it's fine. But for me they really lose something without the color. More power to those that like them. But they're not for me. Go to a good, large comics shop (or a B&N or Borders before they all close!) and look at the "graphic novels" section. They usually have shelves and shelves of both the color collections and the B&W ones. I love the nice deluxe hardcover collections-- I have them for the Abnett/Lanning cosmic Marvel titles, and covet them for the Green Lantern recent storylines-- but they're pretty darned expensive. --Van -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
