If you pick up an X31 (and I see them around pretty cheap) I think that will
do it. It has a built in CF slot.

The Plan was to use Ubuntu and whatever its equivalent of Winamp is.
Two, it is still not clear to me that the 570, even with an upgraded bios,
would 'see' the CF card in the adapter.
All I need is a machine that -will- support CF boot, about 256 megs of
memory, and ethernet and sound connectors.

radio and itunes.
I've been thinking of setting up a 560X for internet radio.
What OS and software are you thinking of?
