Thanks for the reply Bruce. David Ross came closest to a good solution by
purchasing a drive enclosure from Centrex(sp). That would surely be the cost effective thing to do as their CDROM/DVD drive enclosures range from 9 to 12
bucks. But unfortunately, looks like none would work with the odd shape of
the Thinkpad/Lenovo Multi-Drive because of the odd shape (i.e. the disk over
hang accommodation on the right side of the multi-drive.)

What most laptop manufacturers do is take one of the industry-standard drive form factor bare drives, then bolt them onto a proprietary carrier with a proprietary electronic adaptor. I haven't seen a drive from a T60, but this is the case with the drives on our T23 and T42. You could ask the guys at Centrix to see what they say.

Even if some odd overhand is an unremovable part of the drive, you could either just get a drive-to-usb adapter (not enclosure) for under $10 and use your own enclosure (or simply strap the drive to a block of wood!), or dremel off the overhang.
