I think most all drives are the same shape. It is just the front bezel that
is different (cut to fit). The internal plug is the problem. Some are
innies, some are outies.

bezel of the IBM/Lenovo drive, the "notch" that is about .25" to the right
of the manual tray release hole.
All the enclosures I saw at Centrex were for a full width and height
bezel,
not to mention the close up photo looks like it is a different plug on the
"hot end" as someone previously referred. Unless they sell a conversion
for
this of some sort.
I still make give them a call this week to see if they have an
accommodation
for the oddly shaped thinkpad drives.

Thanks for the reply Bruce. David Ross came closest to a good solution by
purchasing a drive enclosure from Centrex(sp). That would surely be the
cost
effective thing to do as their CDROM/DVD drive enclosures range from 9 to
12
bucks. But unfortunately, looks like none would work with the odd shape
of
the Thinkpad/Lenovo Multi-Drive because of the odd shape (i.e. the disk
over
hang accommodation on the right side of the multi-drive.)
I notice that the LG Ultra Slim external drives at Best Buy have the same
logo stamped on the back of the box, as the Thinkpad Mult-Drive
