It should just be a couple screws to take apart your existing TP drive and remove the standard drive guts from the TP-specific casing and connector. Then you'll know what you are dealing with and, as others have mentioned, it is likely a standard device with a standard connector.

I swapped a DVD-R drive from a Dell Latitude into a ThinkPad by simply swapping the guts from the Dell casing to an old TP CD-ROM drive casing. Sometimes there are minor issues, such as the clips that hold on the front bezel, but mostly these things are industry standard bolt-in devices, just like the HDD in various laptop manufacturers' second HDD adapters.

Just pull out a screwdriver and check things out.

I'm referring to the overhang of the disk slot that is also mimicked by the
bezel of the IBM/Lenovo drive, the "notch" that is about .25" to the right
of the manual tray release hole.

All the enclosures I saw at Centrex were for a full width and height bezel,
not to mention the close up photo looks like it is a different plug on the
"hot end" as someone previously referred. Unless they sell a conversion for
this of some sort.

I still make give them a call this week to see if they have an accommodation
for the oddly shaped thinkpad drives.
