The disks from X32 will work, but are likely to create issues in the future,
since T43 uses different HAL from the rest of the T4x machines that X32 is
closely related with.

That being said, recovery media is easy to obtain for any machine of this
generation. Contact me off list if you run out of other options and I'll give
you a hand.

The most important thing is that the T43 lived to see another day...

Cheers,

George

Thanks George. It's not mine either - I'm updating it for a friend who bought
it today. But encouraged by your (mostly) good track record, I said the prayer,
pulled the battery, and ... emerged scratch-free!

Nevertheless, I think I'll pass on updating the embedded controller. System
Update didn't find any critical updates, so I probably shouldn't have tried the
optional EC update to begin with.

Another question. The reseller this T43 was purchased from wiped the recovery
partition. In the event I ever need to do a fresh reinstall on this, will the
recovery CDs I have from an X32 work for the T43? I've used them on a T42 and
they worked fine except for a few drivers that needed to be updated from
lenovo.com.
