Yes its long in the tooth but i only need it for a college course to do office 2010.
Hence requiring a tall screen if possible.

If you're a student you should also consider a Tablet PC, such as the X40t/X60t/X200t series. (For clarification: not a "tablet" like the iPad or android tablets, but a notebook with a digitizer.) This is the only kind of computer I allow my students to use in class. I've seen the X61t available refurbished for under $600 from dealers who will ship to the UK; this was the last Thinkpad tablet to come in a 4:3 screen, and some came with a 1400x1050 IPS screen.

DR

I have my main desktop at home for the usual stuff.

While A31p was a fabulous machine for its time (some of them are still floating in U.S. space stations) and my favourite ThinkPad ever, the youngest one will be 8 years old by Christmas time, so they're getting a little long in the tooth.

Typing on one right now, and yes, they are adorable, but not as the only computer.

Cheers,

George
