A31p was an absolutely stunning machine for its day, all its (major) design
flaws notwithstanding...that was the start of my FlexView addiction...LOL

The one I'm typing on right now was put together from three different units,
CPU upgraded to 2.5, RAM to 2GB, wireless card to Intel 2200BG, bluetooth to
one from T43, and the main hard drive to 80/7200 Seagate. I also have a WD
250GB/5400 in the UltraBay for storage purposes...fabulous classic ThinkPad.

And the FlexView addiction is still ongoing...with a total of 8 different units
in this household...don't ask.

Cheers,

George

I had an A31p too, and it was (IS) a great machine. We got my wife an
A30 at
least 6 years ago at a ham fest, and it's still going strong. Slow and
a watt
hogg, but still a great machine. Mine lived in my backpack for 4 years,
till
I got my T60p, also a great machine. The W500 seems to be a worthy
successor.

sigh. TP nostalgia...
