Hello, I was reading some threads over on the Thinkpads Forum about using lower wattage adapters on the W520. There seems to be mixed success. I did the combination inverter/AC Power supply back in the early days and did not really like it.
I was using my previous Thinkpad yesterday, a Z60t. I did not mind the 14 inch widescreen. I was also reminded the reason I upgraded to the T61 as the Z60t does not support 64 bit and has a 2GB memory limit. So there seemed to be a greater step up from the Z60t to the T61. I am going to do some more research but I am realizing that the W520 is not a good fit for my mainstream needs. I may go with the T420s instead. Thanks everyone for their comments. It has been helpful. 73 Eric -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Michael Geary Sent: Wednesday, November 09, 2011 3:15 PM To: Thinkpad Mailing List Subject: Re: [Thinkpad] W520??? Maybe the best car power solution is Lenovo's? https://www.google.com/search?q=41R4493 It's only 90W, but that's fine - the W520 should run on it. I'm running my W510 on a 90W supply at the moment. They are designed to work as best they can with whatever power supply you plug in. -Mike On Wed, Nov 9, 2011 at 10:32 AM, Stuart F.
