Hello,

I was reading some threads over on the Thinkpads Forum about using lower
wattage adapters on the W520. There seems to be mixed success. I did the
combination inverter/AC Power supply back in the early days and did not really
like it.

I was using my previous Thinkpad yesterday, a Z60t. I did not mind the 14 inch
widescreen. I was also reminded the reason I upgraded to the T61 as the Z60t
does not support 64 bit and has a 2GB memory limit. So there seemed to be a
greater step up from the Z60t to the T61.

I am going to do some more research but I am realizing that the W520 is not a
good fit for my mainstream needs. I may go with the T420s instead.

Thanks everyone for their comments. It has been helpful.

Maybe the best car power solution is Lenovo's?

It's only 90W, but that's fine - the W520 should run on it. I'm running my
W510 on a 90W supply at the moment. They are designed to work as best they
can with whatever power supply you plug in.
