Any idea of the keyboard can be readily changed out like on prior models?
I tend to be a hard typist, so I go through keyboards probably every 3-4
months.

And I agree with Fn-Up/Down - so much easier, than the way Lenovo does it
now.
It's also stupid on their part to change so drastically, because I'm used to
the back/forward page
keys next to the arrow keys (which piss me off when I inadvertantly hit one
by accident and
have to reenter data on a website).

So I wonder if the overall machine quality is going to suffer as well. I
remember a lot of people theorizing
that Lenovo was going to screw up the ThinkPad line when they took it over
from IBM, but it seems to have been
a good run for the past 7 years or so.

I will say that the keyboard on my X120e (chiclet style) still retains the
snap of a good mechanical keyboard. I would say it's comparable to my T23.
Lenovo did indent the top of the keys, so you can feel the shape and keep
your fingers centered pretty easily, and while the key travel is a little
shorter (obviously, given the size of the computer), it's still a solid snap
when the mechanism collapses. I think this may mostly be a cosmetic change.

What bothers me more is the loss of the Insert/Delete/Home/End/PgUp/PgDn
group in the shape of a proper desktop keyboard - I'm still not used to
PageUp/PageDown on the X120, and think I may prefer the way Asus did it on
my EeePC (Fn-Up, Fn-Down).

The last ones with conventional keyboards are the *20 series...

This is really going to suck. So that means T500 or lower for a while.

Is they keyboard going to be really cramped and crummy like on Macbooks?

Also remember that the new machines will not have the 7-row keyboard. :-(
