I have always double clicked on my Thunderbird icon in order to write,
receive, etc. all my E-mails. In fact, I thought that was the only
way to look at my E-mails.

Then something went wrong with my g-mail account and I temporarily
started another new account through Firefox (google) and saw that I
could access my mail either from Thunderbird OR from an entirely new
format which is nice but I'm used to just clicking Thunderbird.

Suddenly, Thunderbird is not receiving any new mail, although my
google format (same account) is.
I can still write from Thunderbird using my E-mail address
([email protected]) but have not received new ones since 7/11.

Also, when I used to double click Thunderbird, all my E-mails would
just come up right away whereas now, a blank page comes up and I have
to click on "inbox" to see all my previous E-mails, which is minor,
but a change.

What I want is what was occurring before. I was using all my E-mail
functions either from Thunderbird and more recently in the google
format. Why has my Thunderbird stopped receiving the identical E-
mails of the same account?

Could someone give me step by step instructions (something in
Thunderbird or Firefox Preferences or Settings that would bring it
back as it was before?  I did change some settings in my Firefox;
maybe I checked something wrong? I'm using Mac OS 10.4.11, Firefox as
my browser, Thunderbird for my E-mail functions and more recently my
gmail through Firefox because Thunderbird is no longer receiving mail.
