This is indeed a very good use for it... as your mainmenu doesn't
interfere with the tiddelr displayArea!

I didn't waddle through all your mainmenu css. So, did you actually
adapt the css code provided in verticaltabs to achieve your mainmenu?
That probably simplified things a lot for you. The only thing for your
mainmenu is, that it never collapses... though, there really isn't a
need for collapsing it.

A few days ago I have been looking at this desktop thing and noticed
that the mainmenu didn't quite work, it was always  only a few pixels
wide (for me). It would be great if all those grouping categories
would only be visible if they contained any item.

By all means, that's quite a neat tw-flavour. I will keep an eye on
it.
