You hit it: "work around" ;) The workaround which came to my mind was like 
in my simple contacts DB: Edit a temp field and hit a button to st the 
field in the current tiddler.

But this a lot of stuff to be done for this workaround. Why not finally add 
the ability to tell an edit widget to only update its target upon focus 
loss or upon "enter-key"? I already had an implementation of it, I seem to 
remember. "Lazy edit" or something like that.
