There is nothing that keeps you - the developer (or me as a contributor) - 
from storing the value in a temporary tiddler. This would still be the 
"workaround", with the important difference: The user need not understand 
how to manage that on his own. I think most of us would agree that it s not 
too easy to understand given the fact that the issue keeps reappearing 
every now and then.
